The listed range includes familiar starting points such as BX180 brass darts and TX280 Gen II tungsten darts, alongside cases and board-area accessories. Compare individual products carefully: the name of a range does not tell you everything about its dimensions, supplied components or suitability for your space.

Brass or tungsten: choose by feel and dimensions

BX180 and TX280 Gen II give you two useful routes to investigate. The BX180 family is described as brass, while the TX280 Gen II family uses 80% tungsten. These are material descriptions, not promises that one dart will automatically produce better scores. The practical questions are how the barrel sits in your fingers and whether its dimensions suit your preferred hold.

When comparing brass darts with tungsten darts, look at the specific weight and barrel diameter together. If you already have a set, use it as your reference. Decide whether you want a similar feel or a deliberate change, such as more room for your fingers or a slimmer contact area.

YOUR EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

Read the pack contents before building a bundle

A photograph may show a complete dart without showing every spare supplied in the box. Read the contents list and distinguish the playing set from any extra flights, shafts or storage included. This is especially useful when comparing a straightforward set with a gift pack or accessory multipack.

Write down the replacement components you would need to keep that configuration usable. Matching spare flights and shafts can save you from making an unplanned change during a game. Check their sizes rather than assuming that every part with the Formula Sports name shares the same fit.

Bring the board area into the same plan

The shopping list does not have to stop at darts. Consider the surface behind the board, the floor beneath it and the space you need to throw without interruption. A surround addresses a different area from a floor mat, and neither replaces a secure mounting arrangement. Choose each part for a clear job.

When comparing the listed surrounds and mats, check the dimensions and installation instructions for the exact item. For a portable stand, confirm how the board attaches and how much floor area the base occupies. A compact-looking photograph does not show the full footprint of an assembled stand.

Organise a simple kit for home or away

A compact case suits a different routine from a case carrying several sets and spare parts. Lay out the equipment you actually take to a game before choosing. Include assembled darts, replacement flights, shafts and any small tools, then check which items need their own compartment.

Keep spare parts grouped by size so that they are easy to identify. Store flights without crushing their edges and avoid putting unprotected points loose in a bag. If more than one person uses the kit, colour differences can make sets easier to recognise, but record the specifications as well so the correct parts can be replaced later.

Make a useful first purchase or upgrade

For a first setup, prioritise the equipment required for regular play and leave room in the budget for consumable parts. For an upgrade, identify one limitation in the current arrangement. You may need a different barrel profile, more convenient storage or better protection around the board rather than a complete replacement.

Browse dart packages if you are assembling several items, or use dart accessories to fill a specific gap. To discuss a Formula Sports model, send Perth Dart Centre the product name and your current setup details.

Formula Sports questions

Is TX280 Gen II the same as BX180?

No. They are different dart families with different material descriptions. Compare the exact weight, dimensions and supplied accessories on the product listings before deciding between them.

What should I check when buying a case?

Check usable internal space, whether your darts fit assembled and how many spare parts you carry. Product photographs are helpful, but internal dimensions and compartment details make the decision clearer.

Can I buy a complete setup in stages?

Yes. Plan the finished arrangement first so later additions will fit. Secure mounting, a suitable board and a safe throwing space should guide the order of your purchases.
