Dart Cabinets for a Considered Home Setup

A dart cabinet gives your board a defined place in the room. Open it for an evening’s play, then close the doors when the session is finished. It can be a practical choice for a games room or shared living space, particularly when you want the setup to feel like part of the room rather than a collection of separate accessories.

The right cabinet starts with fit. Before choosing a finish, check the dartboard it is designed to accommodate, the space available when its doors are open and the accessories you intend to use. These details matter more than a photograph of a complete display.

Plan for the cabinet with its doors open

Measure the wall area around the proposed board position. Allow for the cabinet’s full open width, nearby furniture and anything that could obstruct a door. Also consider where players will stand, where other people will wait and how darts will be retrieved. A cabinet needs a suitable playing area in front of it, not just a clear patch of wall.

Use the dart board mounting guide when planning your board position and throwing distance. The board’s face is the important reference for the throw line. Adding a cabinet can change how far that face sits forward from the wall, so do not simply reuse an old floor mark without checking it.

YOUR EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

Match the board and cabinet

Read the cabinet’s compatibility information against the exact board model. Do not assume that every cabinet accepts every board or that an electronic board will fit a cabinet intended for a bristle board. Internal space, the mounting arrangement and any projecting features can all affect the combination.

Check whether the listing is for a cabinet alone or a set. A photograph may show a board, darts and other accessories for context; the written inclusions should establish what you are buying. If you are keeping your current board, note its model before comparing replacement dart boards or cabinet options.

Think through scoring and lighting together

Some cabinets include scoring panels, while others require a separate scoring solution. Check the actual layout and what writing materials, if any, are supplied. You should be able to read scores comfortably and update them without stepping into another player’s throw. Where the scorer stands is part of the room plan.

Lighting deserves the same attention. A light may fit a bare board but conflict with a cabinet door, hinge or internal edge. Compare the manufacturer’s stated mounting method and clearance requirements before pairing products. Explore dartboard lights with your cabinet model in mind rather than selecting the light in isolation.

Choose the finish for the room you have

A cabinet can make a strong visual statement, but it does not need to dominate the room. Consider the colour of your furniture, the wall behind it and how the doors will look when closed. A decorative veneer-effect finish and solid timber are different descriptions, so read the materials carefully if construction is important to your choice.

Look at handles, hinges and the interior layout as well as the front artwork. Think about how often you will open and close the cabinet and whether any storage shown is actually included. A tidy setup comes from choosing a layout that suits your habits, then keeping spare darts and small accessories organised.

Build a complete, compatible setup

A cabinet is one part of the playing area. Consider floor coverage, the throw line and where equipment will be stored between games. It is not a guarantee that every missed dart will be contained or that the surrounding wall cannot be marked. Review the whole space and keep people clear of the playing direction.

If you are buying several items together, compare darts packages and check every inclusion against your requirements. Follow the supplied cabinet and board instructions for assembly and mounting. If you are unsure about a product combination, contact Perth Dart Centre with the relevant model names before ordering.

Dart cabinet questions

Is the dartboard included with a cabinet?

Only when the product’s stated inclusions say so. Cabinet-only products and sets can look similar in photographs. Confirm the board model, any darts and other accessories listed before comparing the overall value of two options.

Can I fit a light to a dart cabinet?

That depends on the light and cabinet combination. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance, mounting method and available clearance. Include door movement in your checks, and ask about the exact products if their specifications do not answer the question.

Does a cabinet replace every other accessory?

No. It may organise the board area and include particular features, but you still need to plan the floor, throw line, lighting and scoring arrangements. Select accessories according to the complete setup and the way you intend to play.
