Dartboard Accessories That Complete Your Playing Area

A good dartboard is the centre of the setup, but the space around it shapes how enjoyable the game feels. Clear lighting, a consistent throw line and readable scoring all remove small frustrations. Dartboard accessories help you build that space around the way you practise, play with friends or share a room at home.

You do not need to buy everything at once. Begin with the problem you want to solve, then check how the new accessory works with the equipment you already own. A model name, a few measurements and a photograph of the current setup can make comparison much more useful.

Start with the playing area

Before adding accessories, review where the board is mounted and where players stand. Keep the throwing direction clear and allow space for retrieving darts without people crossing into play. Consider nearby doors, furniture and walkways. A well-chosen accessory cannot make an unsuitable playing position work.

The dart board mounting guide is the starting point for checking the board position and throw line. If you move the board, add a cabinet or alter the mounting arrangement, check those references again. Work from the installed board face, rather than assuming an existing floor mark is still correct.

YOUR EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

Improve what you can see

If darts or room fittings cast distracting shadows on the board, review the lighting. Dedicated dartboard lights come in different forms and mounting arrangements. Compare the light coverage, physical size and compatibility with your board, surround or cabinet before choosing.

Also think about the view from the throw line. The numbers and scoring segments need to remain easy to see, and the light should not create an awkward obstruction when you retrieve darts. Follow the instructions for the exact model and check what power accessories are included in the Australian product listing.

Give the board and floor their own attention

Dartboard surrounds sit around the board to provide an additional catching area for some missed darts. Their shape, material and fit vary. Match the product to the board and leave room for any existing lighting or scoring hardware. Coverage is limited to the area the surround occupies.

Dart mats address a different part of the setup. They can define the playing lane and, depending on the model, provide a marked or raised throw reference. Compare their dimensions, backing and intended use on your floor. Neither a surround nor a mat should be treated as a promise that every surface will remain unmarked.

Make scoring easy for everyone playing

Choose a scoring method that suits the game and the people using it. A straightforward written scoreboard can keep both players involved. Electronic options may reduce manual calculation, but the way scores are entered and corrected still matters. Automatic dart detection is a separate feature and should never be assumed from the word electronic.

Browse dart scoring accessories with your preferred games in mind. Check visibility from the playing area, supported formats and where the scorer or device will sit. A comfortable place to update a score is more useful than a feature list you rarely use.

Upgrade in a sensible order

Write down your current frustration in plain language: the board looks unevenly lit, the throw mark moves, or scores are hard to read. Solve that issue first. Then review how the change affects the rest of the setup. A new light may affect surround clearance, while a new cabinet can alter the position of the board face.

Keep the model details and instructions for each component. They are useful when replacing a part or checking a future upgrade. For smaller items attached to the darts themselves, visit dart accessories. If a combination is unclear, send the product names and your setup details to Perth Dart Centre before ordering.

Dartboard accessory questions

Which accessory should I buy first?

Choose the one that addresses your most noticeable setup problem, after confirming the playing area is suitable. Lighting, clear scoring and a reliable throw reference serve different needs. Assess your own space before following someone else’s shopping list.

Will accessories from different brands work together?

Some combinations will, but brand alone does not establish compatibility. Check the exact board, mounting system and accessory specifications. Where clearances or attachment points are involved, confirm the combination instead of relying on a similar-looking photograph.

Are dartboard accessories the same as dart accessories?

Dartboard accessories organise the board and playing area. Dart accessories generally relate to the darts themselves, such as small maintenance or fitting items. Using the right category makes it easier to find the part you need.
